Job Title:
Crane Operator Job Description Join our team as a Crane Operator in our receiving department. You will be responsible for operating a 25-ton overhead bridge crane to manage incoming and outgoing shipments, primarily involving steel materials. Your role includes reading tape measures to ensure precise loading, unloading trucks, and performing related paperwork. Responsibilities Operate a 25-ton overhead bridge crane to move materials around the facility. Load and unload trucks using the overhead crane and a forklift. Ensure the correct amount of steel coil is loaded into the slitter machine by reading a tape measure. Handle paperwork related to the receiving of steel shipments. Work predominantly in the receiving department, handling incoming shipments. Essential Skills Minimum of 1 year experience operating an overhead crane. At least 6 months of experience in a heavy steel manufacturing environment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, with most lifting assisted by equipment. Good job tenure, typically staying 1-2 years at a job. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to read a tape measure. Ability to lift and bend as necessary. Capable of standing and walking on feet for extended periods. Familiarity with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is set in a loud manufacturing environment that can become very warm in the summer months. Safety is a priority, with hardhats and safety goggles required at all times. The facility is spacious, allowing for easy maneuverability. Work hours are from 5 AM to 3 PM, Monday to Friday, with current Saturday shifts from 5 AM to 1 PM. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shelby, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
