Crane Operator

Job Summary Moves Materials within or near plant and yard. Willing to train the right candidate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operates traveling overhead crane to lift, move, and position loads of material and products using hoisting attachments, such as hook, sling. Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials to be moved. Observes load hookup and determines safety of load. Loads and unloads materials onto or from trays, racks, and shelves. Conveys materials from storage to designated areas. Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination. Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheets. Marks information on material or other containers. Stacks or assembles materials into bundles. Proficiently operate; indoor and outside cranes and perform laborer duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

One to three years related experience and/or training preferred. Working knowledge of typical pull sheets, cut lists. Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals. Basic knowledge of ASTM-A6 Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to read tape measure. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and vibration.
