Crane Operator

Experience Needed 2 to 4 years' experience in Overhead Crane Cab Operation. (See definition) Basic Overhead Crane Cab Operator Definition 1) Operates traveling overhead crane from cab located on the crane to lift, move, and position loads, like machinery, equipment, products, and solid or bulk materials, using hoisting attachments, like hooks, slings or electromagnets. 2) Observes load hookup, determines safety of load 3) Manipulates or depresses crane controls, like pedals, levers and buttons, to regulate speed & direction of crane hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions 4) Cleans and maintains crane hoisting mechanism 5) Inspects crane for defective parts notifies supervisor of defects or malfunctions 6) May be designated by type of crane operated or material handled as Bridge Crane Operator; Gantry Crane Operator; Hot-Metal Crane Operator; Overhead Crane Operator. 7) Manage paperwork and perform data entry.
