Job Description
Traveling Onsite Safety Manager - Steel Erection CSC is actively seeking a motivated, experienced, and safety-driven Traveling Onsite Safety Manager to support structural steel erection projects across multiple states. This is a full-time travel position focused heavily on steel erection operations, fall protection, crane coordination, rigging oversight, and field safety leadership. The ideal candidate must be a strong communicator, self-motivated, bilingual (English/Spanish), and capable of working directly with field crews, project management, general contractors, and subcontractors in fast-paced construction environments. This position requires extensive travel, leadership in the field, and the ability to actively coach crews while enforcing OSHA, ANSI, and company safety standards. Valid driver's license with ability to travel full-time Must have a reliable vehicle (until issued company vehicle) Ability to travel nationwide for extended periods Experience not necessary but perfered in structural steel erection, industrial construction, or heavy commercial construction preferred Strong understanding ofOSHA 1926
standards Ability to work at heights and in active steel erection environments Ability to read erection drawings, lift plans, and site logistics plans Strong computer and documentation skills Ability to work independently with little supervision Must be highly organized and detail-oriented Must possess strong leadership and communication skills Must be willing to work flexible hours, weekends, and shutdown schedules when required Entry-Level Candidates Welcome CSC is also willing to consider motivated entry-level safety professionals who: Have a strong work ethic Are eager to learn steel erection operations Are willing to travel full-time Can communicate effectively with crews and management Show leadership potential Are self-starters and self-motivated Can adapt quickly to changing jobsite conditions Construction, ironworker, welding, rigging, crane, military, or industrial backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Primary Responsibilities General Safety Leadership Serve as the primary onsite safety representative on active steel erection projects Conduct site-specific orientations and onboarding for employees and subcontractors Lead daily pre-task planning meetings (PTPs/JHAs) Conduct daily jobsite safety audits and inspections Maintain safety documentation, inspections, corrective actions, and reports Lead incident investigations and near-miss reviews Coordinate directly with project managers, superintendents, foremen, crane operators, and general contractors Promote proactive safety culture and Stop Work Authority Mentor foremen and field leadership on safety expectations and planning Assist with training, coaching, and retraining of employees when needed Ensure crews understand company policies and customer requirements Travel between multiple jobsites as needed Steel Erection Safety Responsibilities Fall Protection Oversight Enforce 100% tie-off policies during steel erection activities Inspect harnesses, lanyards, SRLs, anchor points, horizontal lifelines, and leading-edge systems Verify proper use of fall protection systems during connecting, decking, bolt-up, and detailing operations Monitor leading-edge work and Controlled Decking Zones (CDZ) Ensure compliance withOSHA 1926
Subpart R requirements Crane & Rigging Coordination Assist with lift planning and critical pick operations Monitor crane swing radius and suspended load hazards Verify proper rigging inspections and signaling practices Coordinate with operators, riggers, connectors, and spotters Ensure workers remain clear of suspended loads and pinch points Decking Operations Oversee decking installation activities and CDZ setup Ensure decking bundles are properly landed and secured Monitor leading-edge exposure and decking sequence Ensure proper use of pneumatic tools and fastening systems Verify fall protection compliance during decking operations Equipment Safety Oversight MEWP / Aerial Lift Safety Monitor safe operation of boom lifts and scissor lifts Verify operator training and daily inspections Ensure proper tie-off in boom lifts Monitor ground conditions, overhead hazards, and weather conditions Enforce ANSI A92 and OSHA compliance requirements Telehandler / Forklift Safety Verify operator qualifications and certifications Monitor material handling and load stability Ensure proper traffic control and spotter usage Inspect forks, tires, hydraulics, brakes, and load charts Prevent unsafe practices involving suspended or elevated loads Preferred Experience Structural steel erection Connecting and decking operations Rigging and crane operations Industrial shutdowns Heavy commercial construction Precast or tilt-up erection Fall protection systems Scaffold and access systems Incident investigation and root cause analysis Multi-employer construction sites What We're Looking For CSC is looking for individuals who: Lead by example Can communicate with both management and field crews Are not afraid to stop unsafe work Can build relationships while enforcing standards Understand the fast pace of steel erection Are willing to coach and teach employees Can handle difficult conversations professionally Take pride in safety, quality, and production equally Want to grow within a rapidly developing companyEmployment Type Full-Time Traveling Position Daily Per Diem Nationwide Travel Required Industry Focus Structural Steel Erection Industrial Construction Crane & Rigging Operations Fall Protection Safety Leadership Pay:
