Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic construction team as a Sonic Driller/Operator and bring your expertise to ensure Sonic drilling operations are executed in accordance with the drilling plan from implementation, completion and abandonment of drill sites. The Driller is responsible for leading the crew and working with the crew in preparing the equipment and site for the drilling operation, setup and breakdown of drilling sites, which includes repetitive bending, lifting and climbing which are done throughout the normal workday. This individual promotes safety, reports safety problems, incidents, accidents, or irregularities Duties Able to operate Sonic drilling rigs and related equipment safely and efficiently. Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections, routine maintenance, and minor equipment repairs Collect high-quality soil and rock core samples and maintain accurate drilling logs (depth, materials, groundwater, obstructions) Install monitoring wells, piezometers, and casing as specified Follow all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and site-specific procedures Conduct hazard assessments and actively work toward a zero-incident safety culture Collaborate with geotechnical teams, surveyors, and project staff to meet deadlines Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs with mechanics when needed Maintain daily production records and communicate progress to supervisors Support other crews or projects as needed during non-drilling periods Willing to travel and work out of town for extended periods of time Experience in environmental and geotechnical drilling. Perform equipment setup, calibration, maintenance, and minor repairs. Conduct pre-trip inspections and establish control zones. Follow all company and site-specific safety policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Follow all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies and regulatory requirements Perform risk assessments and implement hazard controls Report incidents and assist with safety investigations Participate in safety training and support continuous improvement initiatives Experience 2-5 years of experience operating drill rigs (sonic drilling strongly preferred) Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and physically demanding conditions High school diploma or equivalent Clean driving record and ability to pass background and drug screening Class A CDL preferred but not mandatory Must be willing to travel extensively and work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to lift 30+ pounds throughout the day Ability to pass a yearly physical and random drug/alcohol tests Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, including working in a team environment. Ability to perform physical labor, shoveling, drilling debris, and transporting materials using ergonomically correct lifting techniques Requires ongoing repetitive motions (including but not limited to bending and twisting, and moving within confined space throughout the work day) Ability to withstand long periods of standing (field work involves time on feet for work day except for breaks and lunch period) Ability to work daily and weekly overtime doing physical labor (up to 12 hours per day) Embrace the challenge of working on impactful projects while honing your skills in a fast-paced environment.
