Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Directional Drill Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience in operating various heavy equipment. This role involves working on construction sites to install underground utilities using horizontal drilling techniques. The Directional Drill Operator will be responsible for ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently while adhering to project specifications. Responsibilities Operate directional drilling equipment to install underground utilities such as water, and telecommunications lines. Conduct pre-operation inspections of equipment to ensure safety and functionality. Collaborate with crew members to plan and execute drilling operations effectively. Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including depth, location, and materials used. Perform routine maintenance on drilling equipment and troubleshoot mechanical issues as they arise. Operate additional heavy equipment as needed, including excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies on construction sites. Assist in paving operations when required and operate water trucks for site preparation. Qualifications Proven experience in heavy equipment operation, particularly with directional drill rigs. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance on equipment. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) is preferred; experience operating tankers is a plus. Familiarity with construction site practices and safety protocols. Experience operating excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks is highly desirable. Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Previous experience with horizontal drilling techniques is an advantage but not mandatory.
