In this role, you will be responsible for operating specialized horizontal drilling equipment to install underground utilities and infrastructure efficiently and safely. Your expertise will help ensure precise directional drilling, minimize environmental impact, and adhere to project timelines. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse construction projects, utilizing heavy equipment and technical skills to deliver quality results. Responsibilities Operate directional drilling machines and related heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, and tankers to perform underground utility installations. Set up and calibrate drilling equipment according to project specifications and safety standards. Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and technical drawings to determine drilling paths and depths. Conduct routine maintenance checks on machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety. Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, and other crew members to execute drilling operations efficiently. Follow all safety protocols related to construction sites, heavy equipment operation, and underground utility work. Document daily activities, equipment usage, and any incidents or issues encountered during operations. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy construction equipment including horizontal drills, excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, tankers, and paving machinery. Proven experience operating directional drilling machinery in construction or utility installation projects. Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately. Valid commercial driver's license with experience in operating large vehicles such as dump trucks or water trucks is preferred. Knowledge of construction site safety procedures and OSHA regulations. Familiarity with Caterpillar (CAT) equipment brands is a plus. Hands-on experience with excavation tools like the excavator or backhoe for auxiliary tasks on-site. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety and precision.
