ABOUT RG TENNEY ELECTRIC RG
Tenney Electric, Inc. (RGTE) is a specialty electrical and underground infrastructure contractor based in Loganville, GA. Our Utility/HDD division performs horizontal directional drilling and underground utility installation for commercial, industrial, and federal airport clients across the Southeast. We are based out of metro Atlanta, with select projects requiring travel to airport and federal job sites.
THE ROLE
The Directional Drill Foreman is a working crew leader responsible for running an HDD crew day to day — planning bore paths, operating or directing the drill rig, and making sure the crew works safely, efficiently, and to spec. You'll manage the people, the equipment, and the schedule, and you're the one Ryan and the project manager count on to anticipate problems before they become delays.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Plan and direct horizontal directional drilling bores — review utility locates, plan bore path, and sequence the work before the rig starts moving Lead and supervise an HDD crew, assigning tasks and keeping the job moving efficiently Operate or directly oversee the drill rig, locating equipment, and support machinery Enforce safety protocols on every job site — utility locates, trench safety, traffic control, and equipment operation Read site plans and utility drawings, and identify conflicts or issues before they cause a problem in the ground Coordinate daily with the project manager on schedule, materials, and any field issues Train and develop crew members, including new hands learning the trade Complete daily job documentation, time sheets, and as-built records accurately
REQUIREMENTS REQUIRED
Proven experience in horizontal directional drilling — running bores, not just being on a crew
REQUIRED
Demonstrated experience leading and directing a crew
REQUIRED
Strong communication skills — you'll be giving direction to your crew and coordinating with the
PM REQUIRED
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
REQUIRED
Strong, consistent commitment to safety and the ability to enforce it on site
REQUIRED
Willing to travel occasionally for airport and federal project work
PREFERRED
Class
A CDL PREFERRED
Experience reading utility and site drawings
PREFERRED
Experience on airport or federal underground utility projects
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base wage $30.00 per hour and up, based on experience. Per diem Paid on travel days for out-of-town airport and federal job sites. Hotel covered separately by RGTE. Overtime 1.5× base rate for all hours over 40 per workweek. Health insurance Available after one year of employment. 401(k) Company matching available after one year of employment. Tools & PPE Required PPE provided by
