Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dependable and hardworking HDD Locator to join our underground utility construction team. This position supports Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations by locating drill heads, assisting crew members, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safe job site operations. Candidates should be safety-focused, willing to work outdoors, and able to perform physically demanding tasks. Responsibilities Utilize advanced utility locating equipment to identify underground cables, pipes, and other utilities with precision. Read and interpret construction blueprints, maps, and technical drawings to understand project requirements. Assist drill operators and crew members during drilling operations. Load, unload, and maintain tools, materials, and equipment. Perform potholing, hand digging, and utility exposure as needed. Perform routine inspections of work sites to verify utility locations before excavation or construction activities commence. Document findings meticulously and communicate potential hazards or conflicts to project managers and crews promptly. Assist with restoration and cleanup after project completion.
Skills/Qualifcations:
Proven service technician experience with field service operations in construction or utility environments. Strong land surveying skills combined with utility locating expertise for accurate underground detection. Experience operating heavy machinery such as backhoes, forklifts, and other construction equipment. Knowledge of cabling installation processes and safety protocols related to underground utilities. Familiarity with construction site safety standards and procedures. Ability to travel locally or overnight if required. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
