Responsibilities Operate and maintain horizontal directional drilling equipment for water main, sewer and/or water service installations. Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance. Read and interpret utility maps, construction plans, and bore profiles. Locate and verify existing underground utilities before drilling. Assist with pipe fusion, pullback operations, and water main installations. Coordinate with crew members, inspectors, superintendent project managers. Follow all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety requirements. Complete daily production reports and equipment logs. Perform general labor duties as needed to support the crew. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience operating directional drilling equipment. Experience with water main, utility, or underground infrastructure installation preferred. Ability to read construction drawings and utility locates. Knowledge of HDD drilling procedures, mud systems, and bore planning. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Vermeer, Ditch Witch, or similar HDD equipment. Water utility construction experience. Fusion certification or experience with HDPE pipe installation.
