Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Locator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utilities, pipelines, and other critical infrastructure on construction sites. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, mechanical systems, and safety protocols to ensure efficient project progress and compliance with industry standards. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Driller to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy equipment operation and construction site experience, with the ability to operate various machinery and perform drilling tasks efficiently. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, including horizontal drilling, paving, and other construction activities, contributing to the successful completion of infrastructure projects. Responsibilities Operate locating equipment to monitor the drill head's position, depth, and angle in real-time. Prevent strikes on existing underground utilities by accurately locating them and communicating the bore path to the drill crew. Communicate with the drill operator and other crew members to ensure the bore path stays on target. Set up and calibrate locating equipment, and ensure it is functioning correctly. Conduct pre-job site surveys to identify potential obstacles and ensure all utilities are accounted for. Operate drilling equipment such as horizontal drills and other heavy machinery safely and effectively. Manage and operate various construction equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, and directional drills. Communicate with the drill operator and other crew members to ensure the bore path stays on target. Conduct routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment on-site. Collaborate with team members to ensure project deadlines are met while adhering to safety standards. Assist in setting up and dismantling drilling operations as required. Must be willing to work out of town. Many jobs are prevailing wage. Other jobs are also paid per diem. Requirements Proven experience in construction site operations, pipeline installation, or related fields. Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment such as excavators, forklifts, water trucks, and tanker trucks. Familiarity with horizontal drilling techniques and underground utility locating methods. Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices for construction sites. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred for operating water trucks or tanker vehicles. Experience with oil & gas projects or pipeline work is highly desirable. Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently in various environmental conditions. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining a high level of safety awareness. Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects while ensuring safety and precision in every task performed. Proven experience operating directional drill equipment. Prior experience in construction sites with knowledge of safety procedures and site protocols. Familiarity with horizontal drilling techniques and equipment is highly desirable. Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Commercial driving experience with a valid driver's license is preferred. Construction or infrastructure project experience is a plus. This role requires a dedicated professional capable of working in dynamic environments while maintaining safety and efficiency standards. Candidates should possess strong mechanical skills and hands-on experience operating various types of heavy equipment used in construction projects.
Pay:
$25.00 - $50.00 per hour
