As a Drill Rig Assistant, you will be a member of the drilling team in our Drilling Services group. Our team performs geotechnical subsurface explorations using a Central Mine Equipment, CME-45c/300, drill rig to explore subsurface conditions with various drilling and sampling methods. We typically drill with 3.25-inch hollow stem augers and sample with split-spoons and Shelby tube samplers. Occasionally, we utilize mud rotary or wireline rock coring methods, depending on project needs.
Responsibilities:
Assist the drill rig operator with daily setup, operation, and maintenance of drilling equipment. Work outside at various project sites. Perform manual labor to assemble and disassemble drill tooling. Travel occasionally for out-of-town projects. Assist with mechanical repairs on drill rig, tooling, equipment, and trucks. Learn to troubleshoot problems, develop solutions, become mechanically proficient, weld, and operate the drill rig.
Requirements:
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate a pickup truck. Legally authorized to work in the U.S. Physically capable of lifting at least 80 pounds (possibly more at times), working on your feet throughout the day, and navigating uneven or rough terrain. Willingness to work overtime when needed to meet project deadlines. Reliable daily transportation to the shop.

From $19.00 per hour
