Job Title:
Driller Helper Job Description The Driller Helper Technician supports drilling operations by assisting with the setup, operation, and maintenance of drilling equipment at project sites. This role ensures drilling activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, safety regulations, and environmental standards. Responsibilities Assist in the setup, operation, and breakdown of drilling rigs and related equipment. Support drilling activities for soil sampling, rock coring, monitoring wells, or foundation drilling. Handle drill rods, casings, augers, and tooling as directed by the Driller. Collect, label, and document soil, rock, and groundwater samples per project requirements. Perform routine inspection, cleaning, and basic maintenance of drilling equipment. Follow all safety procedures, including use of PPE and compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety plans. Maintain accurate field logs, sample records, and daily activity reports. Communicate effectively with drillers, project managers, engineers, and site personnel. Assist with site restoration and cleanup after drilling operations. Travel to job sites as required; overnight travel may be necessary. Essential Skills Experience as a driller's helper. Knowledge of environmental fieldwork and soils testing. Proficiency in handling heavy equipment and general labor tasks. Experience in environmental drilling, geotechnical drilling, and soil sampling. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. 1+ years of experience in drilling, construction, geotechnical, environmental, or related field preferred. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting 50+ lbs, working outdoors, and operating in varying weather conditions. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team. Work Environment Work involves operating in outdoor environments with varying weather conditions. The role requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks and travel to different job sites, with potential overnight stays. Adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), is mandatory. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oxford, MS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $17.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
