Overview The Drilling Engineer is responsible for the engineering planning, design, surveillance, and execution support required for safe and efficient drilling and completion operations. This role ensures that well objectives are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of engineering integrity, safety, and environmental compliance. The position requires close coordination between engineering and field operations teams, along with real-time monitoring and technical support of drilling activities. Responsibilities Lead engineering planning, design, surveillance, and follow-up activities for drilling and completion programs Review historical offset well data to identify hazards and risks Develop well plans based on geological and reservoir objectives Prepare cost estimates for various well design options Identify and organize required equipment and materials for well execution Design wells in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements Prepare, evaluate, and analyze technical bids for goods and services Monitor and survey daily drilling operations to ensure performance and safety Provide rig site surveillance and engineering assessments of critical drilling and completion activities Offer technical support for equipment testing, projects, and implementation of new procedures Collaborate with field operations teams to ensure well plans are practical and executable Work cross-functionally with geology, reservoir, and project teams to align on well objectives Support deepwater drilling operations when applicable, including subsea systems and well control considerations Communicate effectively between engineering and operations teams through reports, presentations, and real-time updates Work assigned shifts (day or night: 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am) as required Qualifications Minimum of 5+ years of drilling engineering and/or operations experience (including surveillance) Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field Strong analytical and technical skills in drilling engineering Proven ability to communicate effectively between engineering and operations teams (verbal and presentations) Experience with Microsoft Office tools Proficiency with well design software and drilling engineering applications Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English Demonstrated experience in well planning and execution
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or knowledge in borehole management (e.g., hole cleaning, borehole stability) Experience in deepwater drilling operations (including subsea systems, riser analysis, and well control systems) Looking for meaningful work?
