Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Drill and Blast Technician will safely and accurately drill and load blast patterns while following all safety regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Able to perform the essential functions of the position according to the Physical Demands Analysis. Operate mobile drilling machines to drill holes for blasting. Accurately load holes with bulk product to a targeted powder factor with proper timing and distribution. Perform bench preparation activities with large equipment when required. Work to ensure the drills are effectively operated and safety standards, targets, criteria and deadlines are met. Follow the drill GPS navigation system, instructions or diagrams, and manually lay out drill patterns if needed. Handle, store and transport explosives and accessories in accordance with industry procedures, criteria and regulations ensuring maximum safety. Effectively communicate and maintain a good relationship with team members, contractors, suppliers and others. Work with Operations to ensure that drill and blast (D&B) activities are completed in a timely fashion. Be productive in team involvement, responsibility, and accountability. Follow and maintain a safe work environment and best practices. Responsible for compliance with Federal, State, and Company regulations, policies and procedures as it relates to the drill and blast area. Participate in all inspections for Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), State, Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). Regular and predictable attendance. Comply with company drug and alcohol policy. Maintain confidentiality with sensitive issues. Other projects as directed. Complies with Company Drug and Alcohol Policy. $28.37 - $38.80 / hour
