Job Overview We are seeking experienced Journeymen-Commercial Drywall Finishers (Tapers) to join our dynamic construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for expertly finishing drywall surfaces on commercial projects, ensuring smooth, flawless walls that meet high-quality standards. Responsibilities Apply joint compound and tape to drywall seams, corners, and joints with precision to achieve a smooth finish. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to accurately execute drywall installation and finishing tasks. Use hand tools and power tools such as taping knives, sanders, and sprayers to prepare surfaces for painting or further finishing. Coordinate with carpenters, plumbers, masons, and other trades to ensure seamless integration of drywall work within the overall construction process. Perform quality checks on finished surfaces, addressing imperfections like cracks or uneven areas promptly. Assist in framing, metal stud framing, door hanging, and trim carpentry as needed for comprehensive wall systems. Maintain safety standards on-site by adhering to protocols related to scaffolding, caulking, plastering, and other finishing processes. Experience Proven experience as a drywall taper or finisher in commercial construction projects. Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles and ability to read detailed blueprints and schematics. Hands-on experience with plastering, caulking, stucco application, tile laying, flooring installation, and painting techniques including airless paint spraying. Familiarity with restoration industry practices such as water damage restoration and mold remediation is a plus. Skilled in various trades including carpentry (trim carpentry), plumbing (construction plumbing), masonry, remodeling, and fixture installation. Knowledge of metal stud framing and drywall systems used in commercial environments. Ability to work efficiently on construction sites with a focus on safety and quality standards while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
