Job Title:
Drywall Taper ($$40-42/hr based on experience!!!!!!) Job Description The Drywall Finisher (Taper) is responsible for finishing drywall surfaces on a large-scale, new-build university project. This role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to meet strict quality standards typical of institutional construction. The finisher will work closely with drywall installers, foremen, and other trades to deliver smooth, paint-ready surfaces while maintaining schedule and safety expectations. The work schedule is from 7AM to 3:30PM, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities Apply tape, joint compound, and finishing materials to drywall seams, corners, and fasteners. Perform all levels of drywall finishing (Levels 3-5 as required by project specifications). Sand, smooth, and prepare drywall surfaces for primer and final finishes. Install and finish corner beads, control joints, and specialty trims. Repair imperfections such as cracks, nail pops, and surface defects. Read and interpret blueprints, finish schedules, and project specifications. Maintain consistent quality across classrooms, offices, corridors, lecture halls, and common areas. Coordinate work with drywall hangers, painters, and other trades to maintain workflow. Follow university project standards, mock-ups, and inspection requirements. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Adhere strictly to OSHA and site-specific safety policies. Essential Skills Proficiency in construction and drywall finishing. Experience applying tape, joint compound, and finishing materials. Ability to perform all levels of drywall finishing, from Levels 3 to 5. Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and project specifications. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience on university, healthcare, or large commercial new-build projects. Familiarity with Level 5 finishes and high-end architectural requirements. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Experience working in active, multi-phase construction environments. Why Work Here? !!!!) Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $41.55 - $41.55/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
