  • Job Summary
  • 4GM Construction is looking for an experienced Metal Framing / Drywall Mechanic to assist the Foreman on commercial construction projects.
This position is for someone who has hands-on experience with metal framing, drywall, demolition, acoustical ceilings, and general commercial interior work. The Metal Framing / Drywall Mechanic will work directly under the Foreman and help keep the crew productive, organized, and on schedule. The right candidate should be able to follow instructions, read basic plans, help with layout, lead small tasks when needed, and perform quality work in the field.
  • Main Responsibilities
  • Assist the Foreman with daily jobsite tasks and crew coordination
  • Perform commercial metal stud framing
  • Install drywall according to project requirements
  • Assist with demolition work as needed
  • Assist with acoustical ceiling / ACT grid installation
  • Help mark layout for walls, soffits, ceilings, openings, and backing
  • Read and understand basic construction plans and wall layouts
  • Help verify measurements and field conditions
  • Keep production moving and assist crew members when needed
  • Help track materials, tools, and equipment needed for the job
  • Communicate jobsite issues to the Foreman
  • Maintain quality control on framing, drywall, ceilings, and finish work
  • Make sure work is straight, level, plumb, and properly installed
  • Follow company safety rules and jobsite safety requirements
  • Keep the work area clean, safe, and organized
  • Step up and lead small tasks or small crews when directed by the Foreman
  • Required Experience
  • Applicants must have experience with:
  • Commercial metal framing
  • Drywall installation
  • Demolition work
  • Acoustical ceilings / ACT grid
  • Measuring, cutting, and installing materials
  • Using basic construction tools and equipment
  • Following jobsite instructions and project requirements
  • Preferred Experience
  • Ability to read basic construction plans is preferred
  • Experience helping with layout is preferred
  • Experience working on commercial remodels or build-outs is preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
  • OSHA 10 certification is a plus
  • Required Qualifications
  • Must have experience in metal framing and drywall
  • Must be dependable and show up on time
  • Must be able to follow direction from the Foreman
  • Must be able to work well with a crew
  • Must have reliable transportation to job sites
  • Must be able to work under deadlines
  • Must take pride in quality work
  • Must follow safety rules and wear required PPE
  • Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work on active commercial construction sites
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and lift materials as needed
  • Must be able to use hand tools, screw guns, lasers, ladders, scaffolds, and other jobsite equipment safely
  • Must be able to work in jobsite conditions and follow all safety requirements
  • Schedule
  • Monday through Friday
  • Some weekends or overtime may be required depending on project schedule
