Electrician Apprentice at Camp Pendleton - Career Opportunity - Immediately Hiring Job Description This role supports electrical projects at Camp Pendleton by assisting with layout, installation, maintenance, and repair of shipboard electrical systems. You will work closely with experienced electricians to prepare materials, run wiring, operate tools and test equipment, and help ensure electrical work meets marine industry standards and safety requirements. Responsibilities Use a tape measure accurately to lay out and mark locations for electrical materials and equipment. Lay out, stage, and organize electrical materials in accordance with project plans and marine standards. Fit up electrical materials and components to support installation on shipboard systems. Perform basic rigging tasks to move, position, and secure electrical equipment and materials safely. Operate hand and power tools for cutting, bending, fastening, and installing electrical components. Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures to ensure equipment is safely de-energized before work begins. Apply knowledge of USN standard items when assisting with shipboard electrical installations and repairs. Bend electrical conduit using a mandrel pipe bender to specified angles and measurements. Follow material procedures for handling, storing, and tracking electrical materials and components. Operate, adjust, and help maintain electrical test equipment under the guidance of tenured electricians. Assist in adjusting and maintaining shipboard electrical equipment to ensure proper operation. Follow marine electrical industry standards and best practices during all tasks and assignments. Identify potential electrical hazards and report unsafe conditions promptly. Support the safe energizing and de-energizing of electrical equipment as directed. Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical equipment issues using test equipment and schematics. Perform basic soldering on electrical equipment and connections as directed. Run electrical wiring and properly terminate and dead-end wiring according to specifications. Draft or assist in drafting service reports that document work performed and issues identified. Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints to support installation and troubleshooting. Support communication and coordination with shipmate, interior communications, and marine electrician teams. Work on your knees for extended periods (6-8 hours per day) while pulling cables and installing wiring in confined or low-clearance areas. Essential Skills Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics. Ability to pull electrical cables efficiently and safely in a shipyard environment. Willingness and physical ability to work on knees for 6-8 hours per day. Proficiency in using a tape measure and taking accurate measurements. Basic experience using hand and power tools for electrical work. Ability to follow lock-out/tag-out procedures and general electrical safety practices. Capability to bend conduit using a mandrel pipe bender. Basic understanding of electrical hazards and safe work practices. Ability to assist in operating and maintaining electrical test equipment. Work involves regular use of hand and power tools, electrical test equipment, and mandrel pipe benders, with strict adherence to lock-out/tag-out and other safety procedures. The environment is highly collaborative, with close coordination among electricians, interior communications specialists, and other marine trades to complete projects safely and efficiently. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Camp Pendleton North, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
