Full Job Description Position Summary:

The Digger Derrick Ground Hand is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of a digger derrick crew. This role involves ground-level tasks such as preparing job sites, handling materials, assisting with pole installation, and maintaining communication with the operator and crew. A Ground Hand plays a key role in ensuring operations meet safety standards and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with setting up and breaking down job sites Spot the digger derrick during operation to ensure safe digging and lifting Dig holes, set poles, and backfill as directed Handle and position materials such as poles, anchors, and concrete forms Help assemble and place rebar cages and bolt templates Use hand tools, power tools, and small equipment as needed Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area Follow all safety protocols, including wearing required PPE Assist in loading/unloading equipment and materials Communicate clearly with the operator and crew members to coordinate tasks Flag traffic or operate temporary traffic control devices when necessary

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred 1+ years of utility construction or related labor experience preferred Familiarity with digger derrick operations and basic rigging is a plus Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various outdoor conditions Willingness to travel and work long hours as needed Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required)
