BASIC DESCRIPTION
Are you a high school student looking for hands-on experience in the electrical trade? Miller Electric, an ITW company, is looking for a Youth Apprentice to join our Maintenance Department in Appleton, Wisconsin! This apprenticeship is a great opportunity to gain real-world experience. As a Youth Apprentice, you'll assist with various support tasks while learning valuable skills in a team-oriented environment. We're looking for a motivated team player with a great attitude who's eager to learn and grow.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Electrical Youth Apprentice is a high school student enrolled in the Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship (YA) Program who works under the close supervision of licensed electricians. This position provides structured, hands‑on training in the electrical trade while reinforcing related classroom instruction. The apprentice assists with approved electrical tasks, develops foundational technical skills, and gains exposure to career pathways in the skilled trades, all in compliance with Wisconsin youth employment and apprenticeship regulations. Assist licensed electricians with basic electrical installation, maintenance, and repair tasks under direct supervision Learn to safely identify and use electrical tools, materials, and equipment appropriate for a youth apprentice Support wiring‑related activities such as pulling wire, labeling circuits, staging materials, and maintaining tool organization Observe and assist with installation of outlets, switches, lighting fixtures, and panels as permitted by Wisconsin youth labor laws Follow all workplace safety rules, including OSHA‑aligned practices and required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times Accurately complete required Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship documentation, including time logs, competency tracking, and school‑related records
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Currently a junior or senior in high school. Interest in electrical or skilled trades career Attention to detail and accuracy in technical work. Basic math and measurement skills Ability to communicate professionally and work collaboratively. Good communications skills. Willingness to learn and grow. Ability to follow safety guidelines and work in a team environment. Good attendance and reliability. Basic computer skills are required.
