Full Job Description General Responsibilities :
Under general supervision, to perform journey level work in installing, maintaining and repairing electrical wiring systems, lighting, equipment and airfield lighting systems; and to do other work as required.
Major Responsibilities:
 Installs electrical conduits, fixtures, motors, switches and outlets according to approved codes, working from blueprints, schematic diagrams, sketches, oral and written instructions.  Tests established circuits for overload and determines circuit requirements for additional electrical equipment.  Tests circuitry and switches for failures or malfunctions, isolates problems, and replaces worn or broken parts and makes repairs on electrical circuits and equipment such as generators, fire alarms, heating and cooling equipment, commercial appliances, power control panels and distribution systems.  Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnosing malfunctions and repair work on airfield lighting systems.  Performs preventative maintenance on electrical equipment.  Performs minor construction or alterations on facilities in order to install or modify electrical systems and equipment.  Supervises the work of helpers.  Perform other duties as assigned.

 Take all reasonable and necessary precautions to ensure personal health and safety, as well as that of co-workers and any other person(s).  Report immediately to management, all unsafe and unhealthy conditions.  Report immediately to management, all occurrences that cause injury or damage to any person or property.  Comply with TBI's Environmental Safety and Health program and procedures.
Qualifications :
 Thorough knowledge of: o Principles and practices of installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems and associated mechanical equipment. o Tools and equipment used in installing, maintaining and repairing electrical wiring systems and equipment. o NEMA specifications and requirements as related to the repair and installation of wiring systems and equipment.  Ability to: o Work at the journey level planning tasks, estimating costs and performing installation maintenance and repair on all types of electrical wiring systems and equipment operating with voltage levels up to and including 5,400 volts. o Diagnose malfunctions of electrical systems and controls and restore to specified operating standards. o Read and comprehend blueprints and schematic diagrams of circuitry. o Determine the scope and difficulty of a job based on an interpretation of oral and written instructions, schematic diagrams, sketches or blueprints. o Supervise helpers assigned to assist on various projects. o Learn and understand State and local laws, ordinances, codes and regulations pertaining to all aspects of electrical wiring systems and equipment installation and maintenance. o Learn and understand FAA Part 139 requirements and FAA Advisory Circular recommendations on the performance requirements, preventative maintenance and repair of airfield lighting systems. o Work with the hand tools, power tools and testing equipment characteristic of the trade.  Possession or ability to obtain before appointment a valid California Drivers' License, Class III or higher.  California journeyman's card or 4 years experience required.  2 years supervised hands-on experience on airfield lighting systems.  Completion of ADB airfield lighting school and/or AAAE airfield lighting ACE certification.  Obtain and maintain security clearance as required by the Airport Security Plan and TSA regulations.
Working Conditions :
Physical Effort:
Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Must be able to work safely in an environment containing caustic chemicals, cleaning materials, dust and noise. Routinely required to work under inclement weather conditions. Walking for extended periods of time is required throughout the course of daily activities.
Mental Effort:
Operations are dynamic and situations may require immediate attention. This position has high exposure to the public and requires a professional approach and demeanour under all conditions. It also requires a genuine willingness to assist persons with a wide range of requests and needs, including individuals with disabilities.
Normal Working Hours:
The normal working hours for this position will vary by shift. Coverage will be provided on a 24 hours basis.
