Job Description

Electrician - Emergency Power Generation Location Maintenance Dept Reference # 2026-258B Close Date open until filled Summary Under the direction of the electrical foreman or the coordinator, the electrician specialist maintains and repairs electrical equipment and systems; and plans and completes the electrical portion of remodeling and construction projects. Description Classified position is announced to all qualified applicants. 8 hours per day/257 days per year/Lane 12 $26.30 per hour (2025 - 2026 Support Salary Table) (Promotions result in a 5% minimum increase) Placement is typically made at the entry level. Employment includes a generous benet package including paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, participation in the Utah Retirement System and insurance options. (Promotions result in a 5% minimum increase) This position may be underlled as an apprentice.
GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direction of the electrical foreman or the coordinator, the electrical specialist maintains and repairs engine driven electric generators, transfer switches and other related equipment. Performs scheduled maintenance, inspection and testing tasks. Installs new generators and transfer switches and performs startup and testing of new systems. Performs minor electrical repairs to building systems.
Knowledge & Ability:
1. Repairing and maintaining engine driven generators and transfer switches 2. Repairing and maintaining emergency generator control systems 3. Experience performing load bank tests on generator systems 4. Experience performing preventative maintenance and inspections on engine driven emergency power systems. 5. Repairing and maintaining gasoline/LPG engines 6. Repairing and maintaining diesel engines 7. Repairing and maintaining gasoline/LPG and diesel fuel systems 8. Repairing and maintaining engine cooling systems 9. Repairing and maintaining engine ignition systems 10. Ability to use computer software such as Word and Excel 11. Ability to maintain written documentation of systems and duties performed. 12. Excellent oral and written communication skills
Job Related Experience:
1. Experience working in a facility maintenance environment. 2. Experience servicing engine driven generators. 3. Experience working in the electrical field.
