Summary:
The Aircraft Electrical Installer reports to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for installation of aircraft components, mechanical systems, wiring, and flight safety controls. Can serve as a subject matter expert and supports coaching and understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, wire schematics and specifications. Roles & Responsibilities Working knowledge of electrical theory, principles, and circuitry. A general understanding of basic principles underlying electronics to perform work involved in the modification, assembly, testing, and installation of aircraft electrical systems. Working knowledge of various types and sizes of wires, cables, and connectors and their application in numerous aircraft electrical systems. Skilled in the use of hand tools such as hand and automatic wire strippers, wire cutters, heat guns, electric and pneumatic power tools, and other specialized tools of the trade. Skilled in the operation of common electrical test devices such as megohmmeter, digital and analog multimeter, voltmeter, ammeter, bond meters, meggers, and specially devised test sets to perform basic checks for continuity, resistance, voltage, opens, shorts, insulation breakdown, grounds, or malfunctioning switches and relays. Ability to complete proper wire installation, including the following: proper spacing, proper use of cable ties and lacing tape, bundle opening, connector removal and installation, and special cable care. Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, technical manuals, engineering instructions, and schematics concerning electrical wiring, systems, and components to be installed, modified, tested, and/or removed. Proficient in troubleshooting basic malfunctions in wiring and associated components. Displays critical thinking processes and deductive reasoning. Comply with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste Program, and Tool Control Programs. Comply with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility and job assignment. Prep and pack the unit for final inspection and shipping. Provide recommendations to Supervisor and cross-functional partners for improvements to quality and process. Other job duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with wiring installation and troubleshooting procedures. Knowledge of general environment processes (FOD control, tool control, and health & safety).
