Job Description
WORK OBJECTIVE
Under general supervision, performs highly skilled to semi-skilled work in the in the maintenance and repair of all City buildings and facilities. Work involves performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks requiring knowledge of building trade skills. Work involves performing highly skilled work in one or more building trades, such as: electrical, carpentry, painting and/or assist in heating and air conditioning equipment installation. Exercises considerable initiative and independent judgement in completing assigned tasks. Reports to the Facility Maintenance Foreman.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position. Maintains and provides needed repair and maintenance to facility buildings, equipment and operational systems, including electrical control and HVAC refrigeration. Performs maintenance work on heating and air conditioning systems, checking thermostats, couplers, fuses, belts, motors, etc.; Performs skilled work (varying voltage up to 480) in the replacement of faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators, and other minor electrical work. Works with pump and motor systems. Installs and repairs electrical systems, lighting, etc. in routine and emergency situations. Performs carpentry work to include framing, installing drywall, installing windows, hanging doors and installing hardware. Sands, paints or stains walls, woodwork, cabinets, tables, and other wooden articles. Performs basic plumbing maintenance and repair. Operates City vehicle to and from assigned work locations to diagnose and assess problems/defects, needed supplies/parts, and takes corrective action as required. Inspects buildings and equipment and performs preventative maintenance. Observes and listens to mechanical devices in operation for any possible malfunctions. Maintains logs and records as required. Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, sketches and drawings which accompany assignments as required. Performs special or technically complicated maintenance service activities. Serves as essential personnel during natural or man-made disasters and emergencies. Performs other duties as assigned. Be available for on-call and emergency call-outs.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one (1) year of college in construction or building trades; plumbing, electrical, HVAC. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Requires (3) years of experience in the repair, construction, and maintenance of buildings, to include HVAC and electrical experience, or closely related experience. Requires a valid driver's license (must obtain Florida driver license within thirty (30) days of employment). Must be able to work a flexible schedule when needed, including nights, weekends, and call backs.GENERAL APPLICATION INFORMATION
