Job Description

The Solar Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of photovoltaic (PV) solar energy systems and battery storage equipment. This position performs electrical work in accordance with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, company standards, and safety requirements. The Solar Electrician works independently and as part of a team to ensure high-quality installations while supporting the continued growth of renewable energy throughout Hawaii.

Job Functions:
  • Install, modify, and maintain residential and commercial solar PV systems
  • Install and connect inverters, batteries, disconnects, combiner boxes, and associated electrical equipment
  • Perform AC and DC wiring in accordance with project plans and electrical codes
  • Install conduit, conductors, grounding, and bonding systems
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and construction documents
  • Review, validate, and assist in the preparation of project Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring material quantities, equipment selections, and electrical components align with project plans, installation requirements, and company standards.
  • Perform system testing, commissioning, and startup procedures
  • Troubleshoot electrical, inverter, battery, and monitoring system issues
  • Conduct service and warranty work as required
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards and safety policies
  • Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, utility representatives, and field personnel
  • Complete required project documentation, inspection reports, and commissioning paperwork
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe and organized condition
  • Assist with training and mentoring apprentices and junior team members
  • Support cross-training initiatives and participate in ongoing technical development
Qualifications:
  • Hawaii Journeyman Electrician License preferred; equivalent electrical experience may be considered based on position level
  • Minimum 2 years of electrical experience; solar experience preferred
  • Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, battery storage systems, and electrical distribution equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, specifications, and diagrams
  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and safety regulations
  • Experience using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work safely at heights and on rooftops when required
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
OSHA 10, OSHA
30, NABCEP, or other solar-related certifications are preferred
Pay:
$40.00
