Electrician - Commercial New Construction Elgin, IL Overview We are seeking experienced electricians who want more than a typical day of bending conduit and pulling wire inside buildings. This role focuses on new construction electrical work, primarily outdoors, supporting large commercial and industrial projects. While major electrical contractors handle interior building systems, our crews specialize in site electrical work—including parking lot lighting, underground power runs, and utility installations. The position blends traditional electrical expertise with hands-on construction and equipment operation, making it ideal for electricians who enjoy variety and working outside. This is a physically active, skill‑driven role with opportunities to expand into heavy equipment operation and CDL driving over time. What You'll Be Doing Install and maintain electrical systems for new construction projects Run conduit, pull wire, and interpret blueprints and electrical plans Perform underground electrical work, including horizontal drilling Operate or assist with construction equipment to bury and route electrical lines Support large-scale commercial and industrial electrical projects Work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions Required Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on electrician experience Experience working with high and medium voltage systems Strong knowledge of conduit installation, wiring, and blueprints Willingness to learn and operate construction equipment Willingness to obtain a CDL in the future Clean driving record Preferred (Nice to Have) Experience with construction equipment (horizontal drilling, backhoe, bulldozer, etc.) Previous experience in site, utility, or underground electrical work Why Work Here Work on large, visible projects from the ground up Gain exposure to heavy equipment and underground electrical systems Build unique skills beyond traditional electrical work Opportunity for long-term growth and expanded certifications Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
