PUBLICWORKS / TRAFFIC OPERATIONS DIVISION LOCATION
3505 DRIESLANE, PEORIA, ILLINOIS HOURS
7:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.

SUMMARY:
This is skilled electrical work in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical traffic control devices, wiring in public buildings, fire circuits, boxes and street light maintenance. Involves the application of electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical skills in the field and in the shop; and emergency standby duty on a scheduled rotating basis; with some exposure to electrical, mechanical and height hazards. Work is performed under supervision and is subject to inspection upon completion.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or GED supplemented by courses in electronics and solid state circuitry, three to five years experience in the skilled maintenance and repair of electronic equipment, a valid CDL Class "B" or higher driver's license within 6 months of hire required, certified with International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) within one year of hire. Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job considered.IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTES
Knowledge of the principles of electricity and electrical circuits; occupational hazards of the work and of necessary safety precautions; and of standard practices, methods, tools, and equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and electronic devices. Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and other City employees. Skill in the use and care of hand and bench tools and electronic testing equipment for electro-mechanical and solid state devices.MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accomodation. Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, work in high precarious places, and work near moving mechanical parts.
