OCCUPATIONAL DEFINITION
#59 - ELECTRICALINSTRUMENT SERVICEMAN I DEPARTMENT
ELECTRICAL (This occupational definition is intended only as a broad description and will not cover many specific instances and/or revisions , when the employee is expected to follow proper instructions and in their absence, to act in accordance with sound judgment. Compliance with the Company's Safety Rules, Standard Operating Procedures, Working Rules, and its Labor Agreements is assumed and required regardless of the individual employee's occupation. Minimum education requirement High School Graduate or GED equivalent.) A screening test is required for this occupation for further consideration into this position. An Electrical Instrument Serviceman I is an individual who has the electrical and electronic education to enable him to participate in the installation, service, and repair of all electrical, instrument and electronic equipment throughout the Company's properties and passed screening test for this occupation. In addition to understanding basic fundamentals of electricity, electronics, and instrumentation, he must demonstrate his ability to work in these fields. As directed, he will assist in assembly, installation, including motor coupling alignment, and calibration of instruments, electronic and/or electrical gear used in the cement industry. Electrical Instrument Serviceman I has the proper electrical and electronic background for troubleshooting and working in these fields, and will be required to understand the principle operation of all cement making equipment. The Electrical Instrument Serviceman I works with and under the direction of the Electrical Instrument Serviceman II, III, and IV, and is an individual capable of reading schematics and locating information in operation service manuals, handbooks, parts lists, and other sources and avails himself to opportunities of self improvement. Electrical Instrument Serviceman I progresses to Electrical Instrument Serviceman II by 1 year in the department and qualified on equipment/tasks as determined and established by the Company and demonstrate his skill, general knowledge of the cement making machinery, resourcefulness, sound judgment, ability to diagnose and troubleshoot defects in electrical, instrument and electronic equipment. The Electrical Instrument Serviceman I will be expected to master the use of all basic tools and test equipment normally associated with the electronic, instrument, and electrical trade. He must purchase items on attached page before trial assignment is completed. The Electrical Instrument Serviceman I, who may also be required to perform other such duties as authorized persons may direct, continues in this classification by maintaining a high standard of performance keeping abreast of technological advances in his field and modern maintenance practices. 1.
