Basic Job Functions:
Develop and implement effective troubleshooting and repair practices, and preventive and corrective maintenance programs for plant electrical and control equipment. Troubleshoot and maintain all plant electrical equipment using various tools, diagnostic, and trouble-shooting devices, as well as mechanical and electrical prints. Report directly to the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor while working within multiple groups and disciplines to continually improve plant safety and reliability in the production of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI). Responsible for completing projects and part research along with automation and control systems programming using PLC and DCS systems, including flow regulation and valve operations. Utilize Microsoft Word and Excel to enter data, prepare documents, and revise AutoCAD drawings. Complete project work such as engineering, building, installing, and updating new and existing equipment which involves the operation of forklifts, man lifts, and cranes. Operate and maintain material handling and conveyor systems, including motor control operations. Perform preventive maintenance on process equipment including equipment related to power distribution, instrumentation, and automation systems. Install and maintain variable frequency drives. Use power and pneumatic tools such as drills, air hammers, and operate mobile equipment such as cranes, forklifts, vehicles. Design/modify electrical power equipment for operational requirements. Medium Voltage Switch Gear and Motor Starters, including safe operation and maintenance of switches, isolators, and breakers. Communicate with production, mechanics, and other electricians about the function of equipment. Operate a forklift or manlift to maintain or install equipment. Responsible for maintaining electrical inventory. Maintain plant safety of DRI facility. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have two (2) years of Electrical and Instrumental Technician experience in an industrial facility.
Experience must include:
PLC based automated control systems, including flow regulation and valve operations. Operating and maintaining material handling and conveyor systems, including motor control operations. Experience with Medium Voltage Switch Gear and Motor Starters, including safe operation and maintenance of switches, isolators, and breakers. Utilizing Microsoft Word and Excel to enter data, prepare documents, and revise AutoCAD drawings. Installing and maintaining variable frequency drives.
