Job Summary/Basic Functions This is skilled trades work mainly performing preventive maintenance work on electrical systems and devices and related fields such as air conditioning and heating systems. OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
Knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. Skill in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. Ability to install, maintain and repair electrical systems. Ability to use a multimeter to test wires for proper voltage and continuity, a ground fault detector to locate wire failures and a megmeter. Ability to use hand tools and power tools and equipment properly. Ability to read and clearly understand blueprints. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to carry, erect, climb, and maneuver on ladders and/or scaffolds; work in tight and awkward spaces; work off of roofs, cat walks and other elevated areas. Ability to carry or otherwise move loads of 50 pounds or more (pipe, wire, toolboxes, etc.). Ability to understand and apply University rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and within extreme temperature ranges. Visual ability, corrected, to observe people and/or vehicles moving through the work area in order to redirect work or equipment to avoid injuries to the people or damage to the vehicles. Ability to communicate information effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Other Information About the Position LSU Health New Orleans Division of Facility Services is seeking highly skilled applicants for the position of Electrician. The person applying for this position should possess two years of experience in the Electrical trades (such as Electrician's helper). Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: installs, maintains, alters, and repairs electrical wiring (underground and above ground), conduit (underground, exterior, and interior), external light fixtures and poles (parking lot, sidewalk, and building), interior light fixtures, power appliances, light machinery, electrical controls (switches, breakers, fuses, and panel boxes) i transformers, motor staiters, related switchgear and controls, outlets and all other related electrical circuits and equipment which also includes in house renovations performs preventive maintenance tasks as assigned performs electrical-related demolition and construction work on minor projects as assigned throughout the entire campus supervises lesser skilled workers in the absence of Electrician Master campus maintenance emergencies picking up parts and materials from vendors assists other trades as needed Compensation:
Starting rate of pay $19.67 per hour. There is also an additional $1 Longevity pay for hours worked only. Rate may be increased depending on applicants' qualifications. Location:
