Job Title:
Journeyman Electrician Job Description We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our team. The role involves reading and interpreting architectural and electrical construction drawings, preparing sketches for wiring and equipment installation, and troubleshooting various electrical components. Responsibilities Read and understand architectural and electrical construction drawings, ladder diagrams, symbols, and schedules. Prepare sketches showing the location of wiring and equipment, ensuring concealed wiring is installed before wall, ceiling, or floor completion. Troubleshoot motors, motor controls, motor control centers, magnetic motor starters, transformers, and other equipment. Install and connect push-button controls, limit switches, pressure switches, float switches, flow switches, and other types of motor control devices. Pull branch circuit wiring and feeder cables through conduit, terminate or splice wires with approved methods and materials. Connect wiring to lighting fixtures, motors, motor controllers, transformers, and other power equipment. Install control and distribution systems, such as switches, relays, circuit breaker panels, and transformers, fastening them with approved fasteners. Connect power cables to equipment such as electrical motors, motor controllers, transformers, ensuring proper wire sizes and connections. Test continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety using testing instruments such as volt-ohmmeter, clamp-on ammeter, megger, circuit tracer, and continuity tester. Observe the function of installed equipment or systems to identify hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. Layout and install electrical work for commercial and industrial projects following national code guidelines. Measure, layout, bend, and thread all types of electrical conduit (EMT, galvanized rigid, IMC, PVC). Adhere to OSHA safety standards. Instruct and train apprentices. Maintain daily timesheet. Essential Skills State of Michigan Journeyman Electrician License. 6+ years of commercial and new construction experience. Valid Driver's License. Appropriate PPE (hard hat, safety vest/goggles, steel toes) and tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications Team lead experience. Proficiency in EMT, RIGID, blueprint reading, and wiring. Work Environment The work will take place on new construction projects in Trenton, MI, including a new fire station and police station. Expect a mix of indoor and outdoor work, with the necessity to dig underground trenches. The project is estimated to run for 6-8 months. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Taylor, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
