Journeyman Electrician - Solar

Job Overview As the Journeyman Electrician, you'll lead the electrical scope of rooftop and ground-mount PV system installations, ensuring every project is safe, code-compliant, and built to last. You'll work closely with installers, project managers, and inspectors to deliver high-quality solar systems that help homeowners reduce their energy costs and carbon footprint. This is a hands-on field role with opportunities to grow with a fast-moving industry. Key Duties Install residential solar PV systems, including panels, inverters, optimizers, battery storage, conduit, and associated wiring Make service entrance connections, install AC/DC disconnects, and tie systems into existing electrical panels and utility meters Pull permits and ensure all work meets NEC requirements (particularly Article 690), Minnesota state electrical code, and local AHJ standards Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and site plans Commission completed systems, perform quality and safety checks, and accompany inspectors during permit and utility inspections Troubleshoot and repair existing solar installations, including underperforming arrays and inverter issues Mentor and oversee apprentice installation crew members on electrical best practices Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site in line with OSHA and company safety standards Document completed work, including as-built drawings, photos, and commissioning reports Required Qualifications Active Minnesota Journeyman Electrician license Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Working knowledge of NEC Comfortable working at heights, on rooftops, and in Minnesota weather conditions year-round Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and perform physical labor throughout the workday Strong communication skills and ability to represent the company professionally in the homeowner's space Nice to Have 1+ years of experience installing residential or commercial solar PV systems Strong familiarity with Article 690 of NEC (Solar PV Systems)

NABCEP PV

Installation Professional certification (or willingness to obtain) OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Experience with battery storage systems (Enphase, Tesla Powerwall, FranklinWH, etc.) Familiarity with Xcel Energy and Minnesota Power interconnection processes We are an equal opportunity employer.
