May 29, 2026 Responsibilities What you'll do Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical motors, controls, switchgear, transformers, and substations to maintain continuous plant operations Perform electrical work on systems ranging from 480 volts up to 13,200 volts, ensuring safety, accuracy, and compliance with standards Coordinate closely with Instrumentation and Control Technicians, Mechanics, and Contractors to resolve electrical and process control system issues Order replacement parts and complete repairs efficiently to minimize downtime and maintain system reliability Read, interpret, and create electrical drawings and schematics to support maintenance, troubleshooting, and future work What success looks like Electrical systems operate safely and reliably with minimal unplanned outages High-voltage repairs are completed accurately and in compliance with standards Collaboration with other trades results in efficient, well-coordinated repairs Electrical documentation and schematics are accurate and up to date You are trusted as a skilled electrician who works independently and safely What you get Competitive hourly pay with clear growth potential Consistent weekday schedule that supports work-life balance Long-term job stability in an essential public service role Hands-on work with complex, high-voltage electrical systems Opportunity to expand skills across treatment plant and process control systems Why this role matters Water and wastewater treatment facilities rely on complex electrical systems to protect public health and the environment. REQUIRES
high school graduation and 3 years of progressively responsible experience performing routine and moderately complex electrical maintenance and repair work; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. May be required to possess a valid MO Class A, B, or C CDL prior to the end of the probationary period as determined by the department. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Preference given to applicants that are electricians with experience working with medium voltage, motor controls, and trained on VFD and DC controls. A Master Electrician license is highly desirable.
