Industrial Maintenance Technician Job Description This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing highly automated production equipment in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment. You will work extensively with PLCs, CNC machines, robotics, and a variety of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to ensure reliable equipment performance and minimal downtime. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork. Responsibilities Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment, CNC machines, and multi-axis robotic systems. Use basic testing equipment, including multimeters, to diagnose electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical issues. Repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment such as lathes, mills, welding and brazing equipment, presses, and automated assembly lines. Interpret and apply electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, as well as mechanical drawings and blueprints, to identify and resolve equipment problems efficiently. Perform root cause analysis to determine underlying issues and implement corrective actions that reduce recurrence and minimize equipment downtime. Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical components including conveyors, pumps, motors, bearings, and other mechanically driven equipment. Support robotic welders and automated equipment by performing routine preventive maintenance and corrective repairs. Collaborate closely with production and maintenance team members to coordinate repairs and support continuous operation of automated systems. Follow and promote safety procedures and quality standards while working on live equipment and during all maintenance activities. Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance technical skills and stay current with new technologies and equipment. Communicate clearly with supervisors and peers about equipment status, maintenance needs, and recommended improvements. Essential Skills Hands-on experience in industrial maintenance within automated or manufacturing environments. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with exposure to hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, motors, bearings, robotics, CNCs, and other mechanically driven equipment. Proficiency in electrical maintenance, including use of multimeters and other basic testing equipment. Ability to interpret and work from electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, as well as mechanical drawings and blueprints. Experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and automated systems. Competence working with CNC equipment, robotic welders, multi-axis robots, and automated assembly lines. Basic welding skills and familiarity with lathes, mills, and related shop equipment. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and adherence to established procedures. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to root cause analysis. Additional Skills & Qualifications Preferably an associate degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Systems, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience in automotive manufacturing or highly automated production environments. Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints and detailed technical documentation. Experience with PLC troubleshooting, including systems such as FANUC and other industrial automation platforms. Eagerness to learn and participate in structured training and development programs. Comfort working with automated equipment, robotic systems, and advanced industrial controls. Ability to adapt to new technologies and equipment within a highly automated setting. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility that emphasizes safety, organization, and reliability. The work involves operating on structured shifts: Day shifts (A, C) run from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on a 2-2-3 schedule, and night shifts (B, D) run from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. on the same 2-2-3 rotation. You will work around CNC equipment, robotic welders, multi-axis robots, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, conveyors, and mechanical drive systems. The facility includes dedicated training hubs where you can practice and develop skills on equipment that is off the manufacturing floor, providing a safe and controlled environment for learning and experimentation. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $34.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
