Job Description

The Red River Valley Fair Association is seeking a skilled and dependable Licensed Electrician to oversee, maintain, and improve the electrical infrastructure across the Fairgrounds and approximately 25 buildings and barns. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, reliable electrical systems for year-round operations, events, concerts, livestock shows, and large public gatherings. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and takes pride in identifying potential issues before they become problems. This role requires someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same while maintaining a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Maintenance & Infrastructure:
Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade electrical systems across the Fairgrounds Inspect and service electrical panels, wiring, lighting, outlets, generators, and related systems Ensure all buildings and event areas have safe and adequate electrical capacity Diagnose electrical issues and implement timely repairs Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and avoid operational disruptions
Event Power & Operational Support:
Coordinate electrical needs for concerts, trade shows, fairs, livestock events, and other special events Install temporary power and assist with event-related electrical setups Monitor electrical loads and ensure safe operation during events Respond to electrical emergencies and urgent maintenance needs as necessary
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all electrical work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety protocols Identify and report hazards or infrastructure concerns Assist with inspections and maintain documentation as required
Facilities & Team Support:
Work collaboratively with the Operations team to support grounds maintenance and facility improvements Assist with snow removal, event setup, and other operational duties as needed Help create a safe and enjoyable environment for guests, staff, vendors, and performers Contribute ideas and solutions to improve Fairgrounds operations and infrastructure
Qualifications:
Electrician License required Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues independently Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor in varying conditions Valid driver's license required
Preferred Qualifications:
Master Electrician License Experience working with event venues, fairgrounds, agricultural facilities, or large public venues preferred Experience with generators, temporary power distribution, and outdoor electrical systems Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs Forklift or equipment operation experience is a plus
