In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining underground electrical systems and street lighting in various outdoor environments. Your expertise will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient lighting solutions that improve public safety and community aesthetics. This position offers an exciting opportunity for electricians passionate about outdoor electrical work, construction site experience, and utility infrastructure. Duties Install, troubleshoot, and repair underground electrical wiring, cabling, and streetlight fixtures in compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards. Operate bucket trucks and bucket lifts safely to access elevated lighting fixtures or overhead wiring. Perform rigging tasks for heavy equipment or materials on construction sites or utility projects. Conduct utility locating to identify existing underground utilities before excavation or installation work begins. Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and construction plans to ensure accurate installation of lighting systems. Engage in field service activities including troubleshooting high voltage and low voltage electrical issues in outdoor environments. Perform welding tasks as needed for structural repairs or mounting supports on utility poles or underground enclosures. Climb poles, towers, or structures safely using appropriate safety gear; conduct tree trimming when necessary to maintain clear access routes. Use testing instruments such as ohmmeters to measure electrical resistance and verify circuit integrity. Maintain detailed records of work performed, including inspections, repairs, and system upgrades. Skills Proven experience as an industrial or commercial electrician with a focus on outdoor or utility projects. Strong knowledge of NEC standards related to high voltage and low voltage electrical systems. Skilled in cabling, wiring methods, and conduit installation within underground environments. Experience with rigging, welding, bucket operation, bucket truck handling, climbing techniques, and safety protocols. Familiarity with blueprint reading, construction site procedures, and utility locating technologies. Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues efficiently using diagnostic tools like ohmmeters. Knowledge of IT infrastructure related to smart lighting systems or networked electrical controls is a plus. Physical capability to perform field service tasks including lifting heavy equipment and working at heights safely.
