About The Green Plug The Green Plug is a growing energy efficiency and solar company based in New York. We specialize in high-quality residential and light commercial solar installations, electrical upgrades, and energy-efficient solutions. We are looking for a skilled Solar Electrician to join our field team and help us deliver clean, code-compliant installs across NYC and Long Island. Job Description As a Solar Electrician at The Green Plug, you will be responsible for all electrical aspects of solar PV installations, from rough-in to final inspection. This role requires strong NEC knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities Perform electrical work for residential and light commercial solar PV systems Install and terminate: Inverters (string, microinverters, optimizers) AC & DC disconnects Combiner panels Service upgrades and subpanels (when required) Run and secure conduit (EMT, PVC, FMC as required) Perform main panel tie-ins and backfeeds in compliance with NEC and AHJ requirements Label systems per code and utility standards Troubleshoot system and electrical issues Ensure all work passes AHJ and utility inspections Maintain a clean, safe, and professional job site Communicate with operations and project management teams regarding job progress Requirements Licensed Electrician preferred (NYC or NYS a plus, but not required for all candidates) Minimum 2+ years of solar electrical experience Strong knowledge of NEC (Article 690, 705, etc.) Experience with NYC & Long Island AHJs is a plus Ability to read and execute electrical plans and single-line diagrams Valid driver's license and reliable transportation OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (or willingness to obtain) Comfortable working on roofs and ladders Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Overtime available Consistent year-round work Opportunity for growth as the company expands Supportive team and streamlined operations
