Job Description

Position Summary The role of the Electrical Maintenance Technician is to perform a variety of multiple skilled duties used in the installation, maintenance and repair of industrial/mechanical equipment and machinery common to a USDA food processing facility. Maintains, services, and conducts minor repairs on building(s) and equipment. Essential Functions Uses schematics, diagrams, or drawings to locate local power supply source to an individual unit of electrically driven equipment. Correctly uses basic electrical test equipment (voltmeter, amp meter, multimeter, and Ohm meter) on basic troubleshooting tasks on AC / DC power (voltages from 12 volts DC to 480 volts AC). Troubleshoots / repairs / replaces simple electrical components (fuses, breakers, switches, small motors, heaters, etc.) Troubleshoots / repairs / replaces I/O devices on simple PLC-controlled dock levelers, trailer restraints, etc. Performs skill level-appropriate PM tasks on electric power, driven and controlled equipment Assists higher-level technician to repair failures in more complex electrical equipment and systems Assists higher-level technicians to troubleshoot / repair complex PLC or computer control systems. Troubleshoot and evaluate mechanical equipment failures and perform necessary corrective actions on a wide variety of production equipment. Assists on daily inspections, emergency repairs, routine adjustments and follow periodic preventive maintenance schedule Ensure that work is performed safely in accordance with company standards. Enforce safety regulations and conformance of company policies. Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems Demonstrated skills in AC/DC circuits industrial electrical systems. Knowledge of electrical safety and lock out tag out processes and procedures. Knowledge in the theory and application of electronic devices such as industrial semi-conductors solid state drives and industrial control systems Experience in the operation of PLC systems and control and data collection instrumentation and transducers. Good working knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Office programs Ability to clearly communicate technical system issues. Must work effectively in a team setting as well as promote team and cooperation Ability to analyze work requirements and plan accordingly. Ability to work with single and three phase voltage
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, or Associate Degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology or related field preferred. Three (3) years of experience with industrial maintenance, or installation and startup of automated equipment systems required. Or a combination of education and experience preferred. Supervision Exercised None. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is in a plant / office setting with varying degrees of temperatures typically ranging between 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit, and occasionally exposure to ranges between

Noise levels are moderate to high. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors.
