Job Description:
Electromechanical Technician performs advanced troubleshooting, corrective repairs, and equipment installations for both electrical and mechanical production systems. This role requires a higher level of technical skill, diagnostic ability and involves working more independently, interpreting complex schematics, and resolving equipment issues with minimal supervision. The technician supports maximum equipment uptime, ensures safety‑compliant repair practices, and assists with mentoring lower‑level maintenance personnel when needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safety Follows all established safe work practices to ensure a safe working environment. Fully understands and applies the Company's Lockout/Tagout program, including controlled shutdowns and startups of equipment being serviced. Uses appropriate PPE and ensures safe practices when working with electrical and mechanical systems. Participates in training for proper fire extinguisher use, including responding to potential fire hazards Advanced Electrical Troubleshooting & Repair Checks and troubleshoots electrical devices, panels, motors, controllers, relays, motor starters, and other electrical components to identify faults and malfunctions. Corrects production equipment and electrical problems returning systems to service as safely and quickly as possible. Uses advanced testing equipment including volt/ohm/amp meters, signal tracers, and other diagnostic tools common to electrical trades. Reads and interprets wiring diagrams and electrical prints to perform accurate diagnostics and repairs. Mechanical Systems Troubleshooting & Repair Installs, repairs, and maintains pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Troubleshoots and repairs conveyors, gears, pulleys, belts, and related mechanical components. Disassembles, moves, installs, aligns, and commissions new and used equipment with limited supervision. Performs equipment changeovers quickly, accurately, and in accordance with departmental standards. Tools & Equipment Operates PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) equipment to load, unload, move, and stage raw materials and finished goods. Uses hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and fabrication tools in a safe and skilled manner. Work Practices & Documentation Follows verbal and written instructions to repair or correct machinery issues, documenting work performed when required. Identifies recurring issues and communicates findings to maintenance leadership for long‑term resolution. Performs additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Lead Technician . Education & Skills Demonstrates basic high‑school-level math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. Technical training or specialized skills typically gained through less than two years of post‑secondary programs or equivalent experience. Ability to read wiring diagrams & Ladder Logic Perform work from MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms) in accordance with company s safety policies and OSHA regulations. Inspect MEWPs prior to use and report any defects or safety concerns. Safely position, stabilize, and maneuver MEWPs around work areas. Experience 0-1 year of experience in maintenance or electrical/mechanical trades. Strong diagnostic skills and proven troubleshooting ability in both electrical and mechanical systems. Welding skills (MIG, Stick) preferred. Forklift certification required (company will certify if needed). Working Conditions Climate‑controlled environment. Exposure to loud noise in designated areas (PPE required). Repetitive motion depending on assigned tasks. Walking or standing for long periods on cement floors.
Pay:
$28.00 - $32.00 per hour
