No Location CountyJefferson Street AddressKeewaydin State Park - Regional Maintenance 45165 NYS Route 12 CityAlexandria Bay StateNY Zip Code13607 Job Specifics Duties DescriptionTrades Specialists (Electrician) perform journey-level electrician work and may supervise others in the repair, maintenance, and installation of electrical systems and equipment, following applicable electric code regulations.
Duties will include:
- Locates and determines electrical malfunction using test instruments such as ammeter, voltmeter, ohmmeter.
- Installs fixtures, motors, and other electrical equipment. Adjusts electrical equipment. Plans layout and installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.
- Plans new or modified installations consistent with specifications and electrical codes.
- Prepares sketches showing location of all wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints.
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
- Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
- Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
- Tests, adjusts, calibrates, and maintains a wide variety of control equipment, including building heating, air conditioning, and ventilating equipment; controls for pumping stations; controls for refrigeration; and for a wide variety of other equipment and systems.
- Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of all components using standard instruments.
- Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments or replacement.
- Inspects circuits and wiring for specified shielding and grounding and repairs or rewires system according to building codes and safety regulations.
- Repairs mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or electric components of electrical equipment and controls, using standard tools, gauges, and procedures.
- Plans layout and wires new installations.
- Lays out the work for the staff and performs journey level tasks as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship and Certificate Program.
- Successful completion of the traineeship and the training program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work.
- If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience.
OPERATING NEEDS
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
- Must possess a valid NYS Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or obtain one within the probationary period and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.
- Experience in heavy equipment operations is preferred but not required.
