Job Description

Ready to solve complex electrical problems and keep a plant humming? Do you enjoy tracing faults with a multimeter, reading ladder logic to pinpoint a PLC issue, and wiring a control cabinet cleanly from a schematic? At the Haywood Company facility, you'll protect uptime by installing, repairing, and optimizing electrical and instrumentation systems—while mentoring newer techs and working confidently with minimal supervision. Your mission Own safe work—every task starts with following established safety procedures.
Install and service electrical infrastructure:
conduit, wire, breakers, fuses, starters, and motors per NEC. Repair, replace, and fine-tune instrumentation and electronics. Calibrate instrumentation, scales, and balances and document the results precisely. Specify, install, and troubleshoot AC/DC motors and motor drives. Understand PLC operations; read ladder diagrams; diagnose and resolve PLC-related issues. Execute PMs on electrical equipment; close out work orders with clear notes. Build/wire control cabinets using drawings and schematics. Interpret electrical schematics, manuals, and technical bulletins. Operate a forklift, scissor lift, and Genie boom to access and service equipment. Organize your workload, meet commitments, and jump on overtime when urgent needs arise. Maintain your own tools/meters and keep shop/plant areas orderly. Support skill growth by assisting with training for entry-level teammates. What you'll need to succeed Valid driver's license. Electrical Trade School completion or 3 years of electrical experience. Physical capabilities Lift 30 lbs overhead at least four times in an 8-hour day. Comfortable climbing and working from a ladder. Show us your technical edge PLC troubleshooting, wiring, and programming familiarity. Electrical schematic reading and interpretation. Electrical troubleshooting across industrial systems and heavy equipment. Commercial/industrial electrical expertise, including conduit bending. Industrial automation troubleshooting and relay testing. Industrial electrical systems and panel installation; equipment wiring. Tools and technology you'll touch Heat gun and band saw for fabrication and repair tasks. Switchgear and Motor Control Centers (MCCs). Multimeters and diagnostic tools. Industrial controls, PLC platforms, and industrial robots. Imagine your first month You've completed safety refreshers, knocked out a backlog of PMs, helped a junior tech wire a motor starter, calibrated a set of balances for QA, and documented a PLC fault-tree that now speeds up future troubleshooting.
