Job Description
BP&L Services LLC is seeking a skilled and safetyfocused Journeyman Electrician to support electrical construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities across industrial, oilfield, and commercial projects in the Permian Basin. The Journeyman Electrician will work independently or as part of a crew to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in accordance with NEC standards, company procedures, and customer specifications.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, grounding, conduit, cable trays, cable and control wiringRead and interpret blueprints, schematics, electrical drawings, and oneline diagramsPerform electrical work on industrial facilities, oilfield locations, pump stations, MCCs, VFDs, panels, and instrumentationEvaluate job scope requirements, including estimating manpower needs, crew size, labor hours, and preparing material takeoffs and equipment lists for assigned projectsAssist in job planning and pretask preparation by identifying tools, materials, and personnel required to safely and efficiently complete workEnsure all work complies with National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and BP&L safety standardsSafely operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and measuring devices (multimeters, megger, etc.)Diagnose electrical issues and determine corrective actions efficiently to minimize downtimeInstall and terminate conductors, raceways, panels, and electrical devicesAssist with equipment startups, troubleshooting, and commissioning activitiesFollow Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and permit requirementsMaintain accurate daily work documentation, material usage, and job progress reportingCommunicate effectively with supervisors, inspectors, clients, and other tradesMentor apprentices and junior electricians when assignedMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all timesRequired QualificationsMinimum 3-5 years of handson electrical experience in industrial and/or oilfield environmentsStrong working knowledge of NEC codes, electrical best practices, and safety regulationsExperience working in hazardous environments (classified areas preferred)Ability to work independently with minimal supervisionValid drivers license and reliable transportationAbility to pass preemployment drug screening and background checkPreferred QualificationsOil & gas or Permian Basin field experienceValid Journeyman Electrician License (Texas or reciprocal state)Experience with MCCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and control systemsTWIC card or ability to obtain oneOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certificationCPR/First Aid certificationPhysical & Work Environment RequirementsAbility to work outdoors in extreme West Texas weather conditionsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, and in confined spacesWillingness to work overtime, weekends, and travel to remote job sites as requiredBenefits & CompensationBP&L Services LLC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package designed to support the health, financial wellbeing, and worklife balance of our employees, including:401(k) retirement planHealth Insurance (medical coverage)Dental InsuranceVision InsuranceLife InsurancePaid Time Off (PTO) including vacation and holidaysCompetitive hourly pay based on experience and qualificationsOvertime opportunitiesTraining and professional development opportunitiesStable work within the Permian BasinSafetyfocused work environmentAdditional benefits may be available based on position, tenure, and project requirements.
