OVERVIEW
The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and uptime of all plant electrical systems, automated equipment, and production machinery. This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining industrial electrical and control systems to maximize equipment availability, minimize downtime, and support continuous production operations. RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance on industrial manufacturing equipment and facility systems. Install, maintain, and repair electrical components, including motors, VFDs, servo drives, servo motors, contactors, relays, transformers, and control circuits. Diagnose and resolve issues involving PLC-controlled automation systems, electrical distribution systems, and machine controls. Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities on production equipment and plant infrastructure. Troubleshoot AC/DC circuits, motor control centers (MCCs), electrical panels, and low- to medium-voltage systems. Collaborate closely with mechanical maintenance personnel to rapidly identify root causes and restore equipment to operational status. Complete work orders, PMs, and maintenance documentation accurately using CMMS software. Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and equipment performance metrics. Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment, machinery, and automation systems. Assist Engineering with process improvements, equipment upgrades, control system modifications, and capital projects. Participate in Lean Manufacturing, TPM, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash, and all plant electrical safety standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S principles. Communicate equipment status, repair progress, and operational concerns effectively with production and leadership teams. Perform other maintenance and technical duties as assigned.
TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS
Industrial Electrician Journeyman Certification required. Minimum of three years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience troubleshooting automated production equipment, industrial controls, and electrical systems. Strong knowledge of electrical systems including: 480V 3-Phase AC;230V 3-Phase AC;120V Single-Phase AC;24VDC and 12VDC control systems Proficient with electrical diagnostic instruments, including: Digital and Analog Multimeters; Megohmmeters (Meggers);Infrared Thermography Equipment; Clamp Meters; Loop Calibrators Experience with servo systems, VFD programming, motor controls, and industrial networking. Familiarity with PLC troubleshooting; Siemens PLC experience highly preferred. Knowledge of electrical schematics, ladder logic, panel layouts, and control drawings. Understanding of mechanical systems, power transmission, bearings, conveyors, and alignment techniques. Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC systems is highly desirable. Controls, instrumentation, and automation experience preferred. Working at Heights certification required. Forklift and aerial lift certification preferred. Overhead crane certification is an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment. Exposure to high-voltage equipment, rotating machinery, and automated production systems. Frequent work in hot, humid, dusty, and noisy conditions. Physically demanding role requiring lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, and prolonged standing. Regular interaction with energized equipment, moving machinery, conveyors, and industrial chemicals. Must be able to safely wear required PPE, including respiratory protection, arc flash gear, and fall protection equipment.
