Job Description

The Automine Electrician is a specialized electrical role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing the Automine system and associated equipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring continuous operation of autonomous mining systems by executing preventative maintenance, minimizing downtime, and maintaining system integrity. Due to the technical complexity of Automine systems, this role ensures that work is performed by a trained and competent individual, reducing system faults caused by untrained intervention and improving overall equipment reliability and production uptime.
Education:
1. Preferred University, college and/or trade school 2. Additional training in automation systems (preferred)
Work Experience:
1. Preferred minimum 3 years' electrician experience in an underground mining environment. 2. Experience working with automated or remote-controlled mining systems (preferred). 3. Experience with PLC systems, communication networks, and mobile equipment electrical systems (preferred). 4. If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver's License and acceptable driving record. 5. Proficient in use of computers and maintenance software systems.
Knowledge Required:
1. Strong understanding of electrical systems, PLCs, and communication networks. 2. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and automation system layouts. 3. Knowledge of Automine systems or similar automation platforms. 4. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in complex control systems. 5. Understanding of applicable electrical codes and safety regulations. 6. Ability to perform safe and timely emergency repairs on critical systems. 7. Strong communication and coordination skills with operations and technical teams. 8. NFPA70E certification required (based on site).
Other Requirements:
1. Ability to pass background clearance check, drug screening and physical. 2. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. 3. Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence. 4. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing 1. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Automine systems including onboard equipment, communication networks, control systems, sensors, and associated electrical infrastructure. 2. Diagnose and resolve faults related to automation systems, including PLCs, communication networks, and mobile equipment interfaces. 3. Execute and manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs specific to Automine systems to ensure reliability and compliance with OEM and site standards. 4. Respond to Automine system breakdowns and minimize downtime impacting production. 5. Act as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for all Automine-related electrical work. 6. Ensure system integrity by controlling and limiting access to Automine systems to trained personnel only. 7. Identify recurring faults and implement corrective actions to improve system performance and reliability. 8. Assist in development and continuous improvement of Automine maintenance strategies and procedures. 9. Coordinate with operations, planning, and OEM representatives (e.g., Sandvik) to ensure system performance and issue resolution. 10. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, faults, and system performance. 11. Support training and mentoring of electricians on Automine systems where appropriate. 12. Ensure planned maintenance is carried out as per maintenance schedules. 13. Ensure all required tools, spares, and diagnostic equipment are available and in working condition. 14. Must be able to work overtime, shift rotations, weekends, and respond to critical breakdowns as required. 15. Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility. 16. Minimum Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Train and mentor electricians and apprentices on Automine systems and best practices. 2. Provide technical guidance to maintenance teams to prevent improper work on automation systems. 3. Assist other maintenance and operational functions as required.
