Estimator Job Description:
Our company has an entry level position available for a career-minded, college graduate as an Estimator with the Sales Department at Structural Wood Systems in Greenville, AL. We need someone with strong math skills and excellent communication skills. In this role, you will perform a variety of tasks, including: Navigates and understands project plans and specifications. Will train plan reading on-the-job. Provide accurate and clear quantity takeoff information to provide a detailed list of materials for specific projects. Prepares and estimates costs for materials and labor by studying project plans and specifications. Develops bids for construction projects. Works closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other professionals. Processes paperwork efficiently. Full-time position, competitive salary (starting salary $35k-$40k based on qualifications ), Blue Cross Blue Shield Health/ Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance (VSP), 401K Retirement plan with company matching, paid holidays and vacation. College degree preferred, but willing to train the right person.
Qualifications and Skills :
Requires critical thinking, analytical skills, and very strong math skills— including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic. Ability to navigate specifications and plans. Will train plan reading on-the-job. Time-management skills are crucial. Must have ability to handle multiple assignments at once. Detail-oriented and very organized. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/Powerpoint) and Adobe. Dependable and conscientious.
