Job Description

ESTIMATOR ROLE
Highly regarded AISC Certified Steel Fabricator in the area is seeking an Estimator to join their preconstruction team. The Estimator will be responsible for reviewing bid documents, performing detailed takeoffs, preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, and supporting the pursuit of structural steel projects up to 25K tons. This role requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate closely with project management, detailing, and fabrication teams to ensure complete and accurate bids. Compensation package is competitive, including bonuses & a 401K program.
Estimator Skills and Requirements:
5+ years of estimating experience in Structural Steel or related heavy construction Ability to accurately interpret architectural, structural, and subcontractor drawings Strong understanding of fabrication and erection means & methods Proficiency in reading and applying AISC standards and specifications Experience with estimating software preferred (Tekla EPM, FabSuite, Excel, or similar) Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced bidding environment
Estimator Job Responsibilities Include:
Review bid documents, specifications, and drawings for scope clarity Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for structural steel and miscellaneous metals Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing Prepare comprehensive and competitive project estimates Coordinate with project management and engineering for scope alignment Identify risk factors, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities Maintain bid logs and historical cost data for future estimating accuracy Support turnover of awarded projects to Project Management team
