A small three-generation family-owned company, in business for 60 years, our services include architecture through high-quality construction. We work primarily on large single family residential remodel projects (e.g., major remodels and/or additions, with construction typically lasting seven months or longer) and some light commercial projects. The Senior Estimator is responsible for all aspects of creating accurate estimates working with our Design Team from schematic design through the final bid stage and helping Project Managers with change orders. On a given day you could be conducting a site walk, creating bid packages, coordinating, and communicating with design and construction staff, finalizing, and checking pricing, communicating, and negotiating with clients, helping to coordinate thorough and accurate contract documents, and/or developing estimates and bids for multiple projects during different stages of the design/build process. This is a full-time, in-office position working closely with our architects, project managers, and construction team on residential remodeling and light commercial projects throughout the Bay Area. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Participate in preconstruction meetings Review design drawings, specifications, and site conditions to prepare accurate and competitive estimates. Being responsible for estimates from conceptual estimates (at or before schematic design), through hard final bids for construction contracts. Creating, reviewing, and updating project schedules (Gantt charts). Reviewing estimates for accuracy and completeness. This work may also include reviewing drawings and specifications with other staff to prepare construction contracts. Helping to develop and streamline the estimating process, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of estimates. Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering alternatives, Participate in project handoffs with design and construction teams. Assist in change order pricing as needed throughout construction. Leading ongoing analysis of estimated vs. actual costs and maintaining the database of historical job costs for reference. Helping to grow relationships with current and new subcontractors.
