Job Description:
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Chief Senior Estimator to lead all estimating and preconstruction efforts for our drywall, metal stud framing, and wood framing division. This role is responsible for overseeing competitive, accurate, and profitable bids across tenant improvement, multi-family, commercial, and core & shell projects. The Chief Senior Estimator will provide strategic leadership to the estimating team, drive cost control initiatives, evaluate project risk, and collaborate with executive leadership to support sustainable growth. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy Lead, mentor, and manage the estimating team within the drywall and framing divisions. Review and approve all major bids prior to submission. Develop estimating standards, labor benchmarks, and productivity assumptions specific to drywall, metal stud, and wood framing scopes. Identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy, efficiency, and profitability. Preconstruction & Bid Management Oversee detailed review of drawings, specifications, contracts, addenda, and RFIs. Define project scope, phasing, and segmentation (interior/exterior, floors, buildings, phased construction). Evaluate labor requirements including prevailing wage, PLA, WBE/MBE, minority/local hiring, and work preservation. Assess schedule constraints such as acceleration, out-of-sequence work, and overtime impacts. Analyze insurance and bonding requirements (OCIP, CCIP, PLA) and associated financial risks. Identify technical and logistical challenges and present mitigation strategies to leadership. Maintain strong communication with general contractors, architects, and ownership teams. Cost Control & Risk Management Prepare and oversee detailed cost estimates using QuickBid, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office. Validate labor rates and productivity assumptions based on project type, duration, and location. Standardize estimate breakdown structures to improve tracking and post-award cost control. Prepare comprehensive, organized proposals with clear inclusions, exclusions, alternates, and qualifications. Qualifications 10+ years of estimating experience in drywall, metal stud, and wood framing, with demonstrated leadership experience. Strong understanding of construction sequencing, labor forecasting, cost modeling, and risk assessment. Proven ability to manage multiple high-value bids while maintaining accuracy and competitiveness. Excellent leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills. High level of professionalism, accountability, and strategic thinking.
