Prepares routine estimates under general supervision. Supports the estimating staff by attending job walks, estimating of small projects assigned, administrative duties and some client contact.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Prepares routine estimates on small to medium projects with assistance from the estimating staff and under general supervision. Supports the estimating staff by setting up field files, work with estimators to define scope of work, obtains material, and color approvals from the client. Attends job walks assigned, interacts with the client to address painting needs, obtains scope of work, and reports to the estimating staff the details of the walk. Picks up and delivers blueprints and other materials, as assigned. Performs other miscellaneous duties, as required.
EQUIPMENT USED
Uses computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, Easy Est. Estimating Program; and other office equipment, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or a certificate in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related field helpful but not required. Prior exposure to construction, commercial painting, or trades is helpful but not required; entry‑level candidates will receive training. Ability and willingness to learn fundamentals of commercial painting—including basic substrate types, surface preparation, material coverage, and labor productivity factors—through employer‑provided training and on‑the‑job experience. Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings and specifications with support; develop skills in identifying scope items, finish locations, and substrate conditions. Computer proficiency required, including: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word Ability to learn digital takeoff tools (On‑Screen Takeoff) and shared project platforms Comfortable working with digital plans, measurements, file management, and cloud‑based project folders Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to learn new software, processes, and technical concepts quickly.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules/regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, construction drawings, specifications and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present & understand information in one-on-one and small group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to compute production rates, apply markups and employee tax & insurance burdens. Must be able to read and comprehend contract language, bond and insurance language. Ability to deal with problems involving scheduling conflicts, field work orders tickets, client relationships, scope of work issues, weather, etc. Ability to interact effectively with others. Know when to involve others in resolving problems or conflicts such as Senior Estimator, upper managers, vendors, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; to reach with hands and arms; walk and stand; sit; and climb or balance. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee normally works in an office environment but occasionally visits construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud; may work in high, precarious places; and exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles. While performing estimating and related duties, the employee may be exposed to out door whether conditions; wet conditions including extreme heat or cold; and/or toxic or caustic chemicals.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
When performing assigned duties or other related activities, the employee must follow all safety requirements including wearing appropriate safety equipment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must provide his/her own transportation to work. Must maintain acceptable driving record.
